Instagram grid maker
Make an Instagram grid that still lines up on your profile
Instiles is a free online Instagram grid maker. Design one connected layout across 3, 6, 9 or 12 posts, check it against the real profile view, and download every tile in the order you need to publish it.
Why a grid maker, not just a splitter
Cutting an image into nine squares is the easy part
Most grid tools take a big picture and slice it into equal squares. On a desktop that looks perfect. In the Instagram app it usually does not: the profile adds thin gaps between posts and, since 2025, shows every post as a 3:4 thumbnail, so the edges of each square are cut off.
The result is a grid where lines no longer meet, faces get cropped, and text near the edges disappears. Instiles is built around that problem: you see the profile version while you design, not after you post.
The editor runs in the browser, it is free, and you do not need an account to start.

How it works
Create an Instagram grid in four steps
Add the shared background. Upload the image or artwork that should flow across all tiles. It goes on the global layer.
Add per-post content. Put headlines, prices or icons on individual tiles so each post still makes sense when opened on its own.
Preview and export. Switch to the profile preview, fix anything that breaks at the seams, then download a ZIP with numbered tiles.
What you get
Built for how the profile actually looks
Gaps and 3:4 thumbnails are simulated, so you catch broken lines before posting.
One layer crosses the seams, the other stays inside a single post. Nothing important lands on a cut by accident.
Elements sitting on a seam are flagged, so you can move a face or a word out of the danger zone.
Tiles are numbered from last to first, because Instagram puts the newest post in the top-left corner.
Classic square for a literal slice, Modern profile for output compensated for the mobile crop.
No install and no account. Open the editor and start from a template.
FAQ
Instagram grid maker questions
Is this Instagram grid maker free?
Yes. The current editor is free to use in the browser. A Pro plan with extra features is planned, but the core grid workflow stays available.
What size should Instagram grid posts be?
Instiles exports each tile at 1080×1080 px. In Modern profile mode the artwork is adjusted so it survives the 3:4 thumbnail crop and the gaps on the profile.
In which order do I post the tiles?
Start from the last tile (bottom-right) and finish with the first (top-left). The exported files are numbered, so you can simply follow the numbers.
Will posting a regular photo later break my grid?
Every new post shifts the whole grid by one position. Rows stay intact only if you post in multiples of three, which is why Instiles works with 3, 6, 9 or 12 posts.
Can I add text to individual posts?
Yes. Text and other per-post elements go on the tile layer, so they stay inside one post and remain readable when someone opens it.
